Pall Lipipor™ NLF2 Filter for TPN

The Pall Lipipor TNA is a 1.2 μm modified nylon filter for use with lipid-containing admixtures and nutrient lipid emulsions. It offers patient protection against:

  • Air: preventing air embolism
  • Particles: protecting the circulatory system against the undesirable effects of infusing particulate contamination

including flocculates and precipitates protecting the peripheral vein during infusion

  • Oversize Lipid Droplets: Significantly reducing the number of large lipid droplets in admixtures1
  • Micro-organisms: reducing the risk of infection due to inadvertently contaminated infusates, particularly with fungi of clinical importance.2,3

 

The use of 1.2 µm TPN filters in nutrient lipid emulsions has been advocated by professional organisations.1.2 micron TPN filters are used to assist in the prevention of:

  • Air becoming entrained in infusions due to degassing, disconnection or lines, which run-dry. It may not be visible in lipid-containing preparations. It can be particularly problematic on central venous line infusions, leading to air embolism, which can be fatal
  • Particulate contamination from infusion systems, components, manipulations and as precipitates due to interactions between components
  • Oversized lipid droplets
  • Microbial contamination can arise in infusion systems inadvertently due to manipulations
  • Fungi growth in lipid-containing

Pall Lipipor TNA1E

Pall Lipipor TNA2E filter for parenteral nutrition

The Pall Lipipor TNA2E Filter is a self-priming, air-eliminating filter with a 1.2 μm low protein binding Supor membrane and non-phthalate fluid pathway. It is indicated for the removal of inadvertent particulate debris, enlarged lipid droplets, fungal contaminants and entrained air that may be found in parenteral nutrition containing lipid including:

  • Air: preventing embolism by position - independent air elimination
  • Particles: protecting the circulatory system against the undesirable effects of particulate contamination in peripheral and central venous infusions
  • Enlarged lipid droplets: significantly reducing the number of enlarged droplets (>5 μm) in admixtures1
  • Microbes: reducing the risk from inadvertently contaminated infusates, particularly with fungi of clinical importance

The Pall Lipipor TNA2E filter minimises nursing time and reduces set manipulation andcan be used in applications that do not need an infusion pump. The Pall Lipipor TNA2E filter membrane has been demonstrated to have low protein binding andis comfortable for patients and easy to tape in place. The Pall Lipipor TNA2E filter membrane does not adversely affect normal lipid size distribution.

 

Single patient use. May be used for up to 48 hours in a single continuous infusion.
